OUR VISION
An interconnected community for all
Well, we all wish that we were birds. We wish we could fly. Well, I guess we do our flying in the arts... We all fly in our own different ways.
— Martin Duckworth, director and cinematographer
How can we collaboratively cultivate spaces in which diversities flourish?
OUR MISSION
Bridging difference through what connects us
At What Connects Us ~ Ce qui nous lie, we believe that a whole world depends on our ability to collaboratively create an interconnected community for all.
The overarching aim of our inter+lab is to collaborate with and in community to understand priority concerns and co-create experiences that matter through shared activities and events.
We use a variety of first-person methodologies, methods and theoretical frameworks to guide our projects and trace the impact of our community-led participatory and research creation projects. It is the experiential knowledge of all our partners and collaborators that lies at the heart of What Connects Us ~ Ce qui nous lie.
OUR OBJECTIVES
By sharing co-designed new or leveraging pre-existing activities and events, our objectives are to:
- Enrich a web of resources and care networks in local communities;
- Enhance the conditions for sustainable intersectoral actions;
- Address stigma with and for persons who are less visible and heard in research.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
We would like to acknowledge that the roots of inter+lab are located on Tiohtià:ke (Montréal), unceded Indigenous lands which have long served as a space to live, meet, gather and exchange for different Indigenous nations. We recognize the Kanien’kehà:ka (Mohawk), St. Laurence Iroquoians, Haudensaunee and Huron-Wendat as the custodians of these lands and waters, which are home to many different Indigenous communities and other diverse populations. What Connects Us ~ Ce qui nous lie respects the weaving of past, present and future relationships in this place where we are situated.
